First of all, thanks so much for visiting the blog! I appreciate it very much. SO…about me. I am an interior designer living in Washington, DC, who has a thing for old houses, mid-century modern anything, and nice sheets. I love the thrill of the hunt for a good deal on anything from vintage furniture to real estate (I don’t actually get to buy that much real estate but boy do I love shopping for it!!).
In 2013, my husband and I left behind an amazing apartment in Dupont Circle (we STILL talk about that apartment) and we bought a 130 year-old row home in Capitol Hill. One year later, we added a new member to our little family: our daughter, Beatrice, who makes us laugh every single day.
Our Capitol Hill house had been a flip back in 2010…and not one of the good ones (assuming there are good ones…somewhere). We didn’t buy it directly from the flippers. We bought it from a lovely family (let’s call them the “Goodenuffs”) who were DIYers…again, not awesome, but I do appreciate their efforts. Over the years we have been slowly putting the charm and personality back into this little house.
This blog is the place where I share our projects along with what it cost (spoiler: almost always more than we think it will cost), where we shop, what we learned, and basically how it all goes down. We are not big DIYers (we have no space for tools, nowhere to store materials, no time for clean up, the list of excuses goes on and on) but I love to do small projects myself when I can so I’ll share those too. I may also occasionally post some random tidbits and they may or may not be design related, but my goal is to post things that are helpful, inspirational and fun.
